Website design

Website design for small businesses in Shawlands and Glasgow’s Southside

A good website does three things: it shows up when people nearby search, it tells them what you do and what it costs, and it makes it easy to call, book or visit. That’s what I build.

I’m a website designer on Glasgow’s Southside, working from Shawlands. Web design for local businesses is the main thing I do: barbers, cafés, salons, shops and trades in Shawlands, Battlefield, Strathbungo, Langside, Pollokshields, Cathcart and further afield.

Most of the businesses I work with are small, busy and great at what they do. What they don’t have is time to learn website builders or decode agency jargon. So I keep it simple: a fixed price, a free homepage mockup before you commit, and a fast site on a domain you own.

What’s included in every site

Whichever package you choose, these come as standard.

  • Mobile-first design Designed for a phone first, because that’s where most of your customers will see it.
  • Written or polished copy I write the words, or tidy up yours, in plain English.
  • Hours, prices, map and contact details The four things people look for, easy to find on every page.
  • Google Business Profile help I’ll help you set up or tidy your profile, so you show up on Google Maps.
  • Basic local SEO Page titles, descriptions and business schema, done properly.
  • Fast hosting on Cloudflare Pages load quickly, even on a weak signal at the bus stop.
  • SSL The padlock in the address bar, so browsers don’t warn people off.
  • A contact form Enquiries land straight in your inbox.
  • A handover guide A plain-English note of what you own, where it lives and how to change it.

Who it’s for

Every business needs something slightly different from its website. These are the people I build for most.

  • Barbers and salons

Prices, opening hours and a booking button right at the top. People want to know what a cut costs before they walk in.

  • Cafés and takeaways

A menu Google can read, opening hours that are actually right, and allergen information people can check before they visit.

  • Florists and shops

What you stock, how to order, where you deliver, and a gallery that shows off the work.

  • Electricians, plumbers and other trades

Click-to-call, a short quote form and a page for each area you cover, so you show up when someone nearby searches.

Redesigns and rescues

Already have a site?

  • Broken or expired sites

If your domain lapsed or the site shows an error, I’ll find out what happened and get you back online, on a domain registered in your name.

  • Moving off expensive builders

Paying every month for a website builder you never log into? I’ll move you to fast hosting that’s free for most small sites, and that you own.

  • Redesigns

Keep what works, fix what doesn’t, and make the site look like the business you run today.

How it works

From chat to live in about two weeks

  1. Step 1: A quick chat.

Tell me about your business: by email, a message, or over a coffee in Shawlands. (Free, with no obligation.)

  2. Step 2: A free homepage mockup.

Within a few days I'll show you what your new homepage could look like. If you don't love it, you walk away. No charge.

  3. Step 3: Build and write.

I build the full site, write or polish the words, and set up Google so people nearby can find you.

  4. Step 4: Launch and look after.

We go live on your own domain. Choose the care plan and I'll handle hosting, updates and small changes every month.

Timelines depend on how quickly content and feedback come back. A one-page site can be live within a week.

Common questions

All FAQs

Do I own my website and domain?

Yes. The domain is registered in your name and you get full access. No lock-in.

Will I show up on Google?

Every site is built with local SEO basics: page titles, descriptions, business schema, and help with your Google Business Profile. Nobody can honestly guarantee the number one spot, but you'll be set up properly.

I already have a site. Can you fix it?

Yes. I rescue broken sites, move them off expensive builders, or redesign them.

Want to see your new homepage before you spend a penny?

Send me your business name and what you do. I'll send back a free mockup. No obligation.
